The Future of Cities and Energies in Western Europe explores a variety of theoretical and empirical approaches to researching energy issues in Western European cities, as well as urban energy transition. It serves as a collection of materials, instruments, ideas, and theories to embrace this subject. Philippe Hamman is a Full Professor of sociology, head of the Institute for Urbanism and Regional Development, and Vice-Dean for research of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Strasbourg, France. His main research fields deal with urban sociology, sociology of the environment and sustainability research. Nadine Roudil is a Full Professor of sociology at the National School of Architecture of Paris Val de Seine in France. She questions the energy transition process in France and in the European Union, and the place taken by energy-saving norms in urban and dwelling conception as well as urban lifestyle.
