Beschreibung
In recent years, despite the growing body of research on Giordano Bruno, there has been a striking lack of attention to his Latin commentary on Aristotles natural philosophy, entitled In Physicam Aristotelis Animadversiones. The work, which has been unjustly overlooked, represents a fundamental turning point in Brunos ongoing engagement with the philosophy of the Stagirite, marking a shift away from the primarily polemical approach evident in the Italian dialogues. Over a century after the posthumous publication of the Commentary, this book presents a new critical edition based on a comprehensive examination of the entire manuscript tradition. The Latin text is accompanied by an Italian translation, which is also the first modern language translation of the Commentary. This edition is further enriched by an introductory essay that addresses the main issues related to work, and by a thorough historical-philosophical commentary that analyses Bruno's position in itself and against the background of the Medieval and Renaissance Aristotelian tradition.
